"You can try to inject knowledge and skills into someone, but changing attitudes and habits can only be done by the person themselves. Skilled facilitation rather than straightforward instruction is therefore required."
Tim Sparrow, Institute of Applied Emotional Intelligence
The key to effective skills

Why Does Training Fail?
We believe that a lot of training currently being offered is a waste of time.

Have you ever experienced being on a training course and then found that your habits and performance haven't really changed when you return to work?

The reason for this is simple - in order for true, lasting change to occur you need to look at 4 elements:

Knowledge
Attitudes
Skills
Habits

What did the last training course you attended focus on?
In the majority of cases, the answer will be knowledge and skills. However, if your attitudes about yourself and the training aren't right, all the knowledge and skills training in the world won't make any difference. Take, for example, the employee who doesn't want to be on the training but has been told to attend. Or what about the person on the presentation skills training who has an attitude "I hate standing in front of groups. It is just not me."

At EICT, we realise that in order for true lasting development to take place, attitudes and behaviour habits connected to those attitudes also need to be developed. All our programmes therefore include all of the 4 elements in the KASH model.
